Curved Up Ribbon: Llewellin's of the Prairie Lakes

Welcome

Let me take a moment to introduce myself and my goals. My name is Greg Berkey and I grew up in Southern California, met my wife while in College in Oklahoma, and moved to Iowa in 1971 after seminary.  In 1993 we moved to Watertown. I bought my first bird dog in 1972, and have owned Vizslas, Pointers, English Setters, Brittanys, and even a Springer. In 1992 I bought my first Llewellin, Pepper, and then Dakota a little latter.  Both are now gone, but Lady and Duke are doing a good job in their places. My goal at this time is to raise an occasional litter of quality Llewellin puppies. I am breeding for intelligence, hunting desire, class and style with good confirmation.  I am also looking for that good disposition.

Place your pointer on the picture below and a pop-up will appear identifying the picture. Be sure to click on the picture enlarge them.

New Puppies

All puppies will have their dew claws removed, started on heart worm prevention, wormed, and have appropriate shots. All puppies will have hips guaranteed for three years.  My breeding female, Lady, has been DNA tested and is a registered Llewellin (FDSB). All litters will be registered with the FDSB through the American Field (http://www.americanfield.com). Lady’s hips are OFA tested as Good (http:/www.offa.org). Puppies will be checked by my Veterinarian, and will be healthy at time of delivery.  It will be the owner’s responsibility to have the puppy checked by their veterinarian upon receiving the new puppy.  Normal health care and puppy problems are the owner’s responsibility.  My liability will not exceed the purchase price of the puppy.

I will do my best to deliver a healthy and well adjusted puppy to its new home the rest is up to the new owner.

 Duke and Lady

Prairie Lakes Duke is a tri-color male with a gentle personality, and wants to hunt with you. He has a strong desire to please and is an easy keeper. Check out his pedigree by clicking on his pedigree, and then click the button in the lower right hand coroner to enlarge the pedigree again.  Lady is a white, orange and ticked female who has a lot of hunting desire. She is stylish and athletic, and she will range 100-150 yards in the open. Lady will hit the tough cover and stay close.  To see her pedigree click her pedigree picture, and do the same as you did for Duke.

About Me

My son, Adam, and I primarily hunt pheasants here in South Dakota, with occasional trips to Minnesota  and Wisconsin to hunt Ruffled Grouse and woodcock. I need a dog that is smart and tough enough to tackle the cattail sloughs and other tight cover. I also need a dog gentle enough for my grandkids, and bird dogs I don't have to chase after! No dogs are perfect, but I believe that the Llewellin is a good solid  natural bird dog that the average person, like me, can train and hunt. They also like to sit in you lap and lay on your couch.
