Indexes for Mike’s Cards 3

Indexes for Mike’s Cards 3

This is my proposed addition for Mike’s Cards 3: custom indexes in solitaire games with variable foundations, such as Canfield. It would allow two characters each for ace, jack, queen and king. Latin letters would be used, except for Finland, Greece, Russia and Custom. Indexes would be available for the following nations:

United KingdomDenmarkEstoniaFinland
FranceGermanyGreeceIceland
NetherlandsPolandRussia
PortugalSweden
3D Animated Flags—By 3DFlags.com
International (default, denoted by UK flag)
Denmark/Sweden
Estonia
Finland (1 on ace; 11, 12 and 13 on courts)
France/Portugal
Germany with French suits
Greece (Greek indexes)
Iceland
Netherlands
Poland
Russia (Cyrillic indexes)
Custom ... (allow any Unicode characters)

Andrea Pollett has an online chart showing the various card indexing systems in Europe. UniLang.org has a list of playing-card terms in various languages. I include the Custom option to accommodate either a regularized English orthography (Jak, Kween, King) or nonstandard court card designations (Daughter, Son, Mother, Father). In the Shavian script, indexes might look like this: 𐑱𐑕, 𐑡𐑨𐑒, 𐑒𐑢𐑰𐑯 and 𐑒𐑦𐑙.

As far as European playing cards are concerned, there is precedent (new link needed) for using the letter X instead of the figure 10 as an index.
